Art Therapy

Art is a Catalyst for
Self-Discovery

Creating artwork is about the process of discovery, not just the artistic results. Anyone can gain from Art Therapy, even if you can’t draw a straight line!

Art evokes imagery, and through the use of metaphors that we are not always aware of, it can lead us beneath our surface thoughts.

Exploration through art can bring us new ways of looking at an issue.

The creative process of making art encourages non-verbal communication and complements traditional therapy practices.

Materials such as paint, ink, pastels, clay, cloth and collage can evoke important aspects of your inner self. You may find new and better ways to express your thoughts and feelings.

Art can be used in therapy with directives and interventions designed to discover issues that come up during the process of therapy.

Or art can be used as therapy, as a way to express oneself, that can be a healing process in and of itself. Depending on your individual needs, either style may be employed.

Successful results include heightened self-esteem and clarity. A newfound feeling of self-worth and awareness as well as increased imagination and playfulness are commonly recognized benefits.

Adults and children both, can enjoy and benefit from one-on-one art therapy. Families and groups may also participate.
